Restoring Compliance at Florida Turnpike Service Plazas

Areas is a global travel dining and retail company serving airports, railway stations, and highway service plazas around the world. In Florida, AREAS USA FLTP, LLC operates within Florida’s Turnpike service plaza system, serving travelers at busy highway locations managed through Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, part of the Florida Department of Transportation.

THE CHALLENGE

The Fort Pierce and Fort Drum service plazas had repeatedly failed compliance inspections due to overgrown and neglected exterior areas. Sections of the property were covered with extremely tall wild grass, estimated from project photos to reach approximately 7 to 10 feet in height. Overgrown vegetation, unmanaged palms and shrubs, and drainage concerns affected the appearance, function, and safety of these high-traffic public facilities. Because these service plazas welcome Florida residents, visitors, and commercial travelers every day, Areas needed a dependable landscaping company capable of handling extensive land clearing while helping bring both properties back into compliance.

After years of failed inspections, Heavenly restored two Florida Turnpike service plazas, resolved major landscape and drainage concerns, and helped both locations pass compliance.

THE SOLUTION

Heavenly Landscaping & Lawn completed a large-scale exterior restoration plan tailored to the conditions at each service plaza. Our team used bush hog equipment to clear severely overgrown land, cut back and manicured bushes, cleared and trimmed palms, and restored landscaped areas that had become difficult to access and maintain. We also addressed drainage-related concerns to help reduce water accumulation and prevent flooding issues in parking areas.
