Florida Landscape Contractors
Managing properties across Florida (or managing Florida properties from another state) comes with a unique challenge; you can’t always be there to see what’s happening. You need contractors you can trust. Contractors that show up, communicate, document their work, and tell you when something at the property needs attention. When searching for Florida Landscape Contractors, property managers are often looking for one of two things: reliable ongoing landscape maintenance and/or a contractor who can improve your property. Therefore, finding a company that can handle both can make managing your Florida properties much easier.
Reliable Maintenance You Can Keep Track Of
For regional and out-of-state property managers, hiring a landscaping company is only half the battle. The other half is knowing the work is actually being completed when you’re not there to see it. At Heavenly Landscaping & Lawn, we give our clients greater visibility into their properties. Through our client portal, property managers can see past and upcoming service visits, review service history, submit and track requests, and keep up with additional projects. Our crews follow scheduled routes. In addition, our GPS systems help us track those routes and service activity internally. This gives our management team another level of operational oversight. Instead of relying solely on a crew saying a property was serviced, we can verify the work.
Communication between visits matters too. A landscaping crew isn’t at your property every day, so we can’t see everything that happens after we leave. If an issue comes up between scheduled visits, the property or on-site contact can submit a request through the portal so there is a documented record that our team can review and address.
When comparing Florida landscape contractors, don’t just ask how often they’ll service your property. Instead, ask yourself a more important question:
How will I know what’s happening when I’m not there?
Maintaining, Refreshing, or Starting Over
One of the first decisions a property manager should make when taking on a new property is which approach makes the most financial sense for the existing landscape:
Maintain what you have when the landscape is generally healthy and functional. If the turf is established, plants are appropriate for their locations, irrigation is working, and the property mainly needs consistent mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, and bed maintenance, a reliable recurring maintenance program may be all that’s necessary.
Refresh the landscape when the foundation is still good, but the property looks “tired.” You may have declining plants, empty areas in landscape beds, damaged sod, outdated plant material, poor curb appeal at the entrance, or certain areas that repeatedly struggle. A refresh allows you to concentrate the budget where it will make the biggest visual difference. Instead of replacing the entire landscape, you target the most impactful areas.
This is also a good opportunity to rethink problem areas. If you’re replacing the same plants repeatedly, don’t automatically install the same plants again. Instead, consider sunlight, irrigation, drainage, mature plant size, and Florida-Friendly Landscaping principles when selecting replacements. A better plant in the right location can be both attractive and easier to maintain.
Start over when years of neglect, extensive overgrowth, failing turf, inappropriate plant material, or a major property renovation makes piecemeal repairs impractical. Newly acquired properties sometimes fall into this category. Before recurring maintenance begins, the property may need a substantial cleanup, removal of declining material, new sod or plants, redesigned beds, or a complete landscape installation.
Experienced Florida Landscape Contractors can evaluate what makes sense to save, identify what needs replacement, and help you invest your landscape budget where it will have the greatest impact on your property.
